MESH-29 FLYING UP THE CHARTS

Mesh-29 (Adam & Anthony) have become pretty regular visitors to the show recently. Two very talented young guys, who write and sing their own material. Their new single 'Over The Barricade' has already stormed into the charts after appearing on Mike's show a couple of weeks ago. Their full CD is also now available entitled 'Dead Machine'

HAYLEY WESTENRA POPS IN

The highly talented Kiwi Hayley Westenra popped in for a chat with Mike on Monday morning.

Hayley has just completed recording the 50Th anniversary CD of WEST SIDE STORY.
Hayley was very excited about the Cd which is slightly different from the original inasmuch as it has been updated.

GARY FLETCHER VISITS

Probably known as the bass player in The Blues Band, Gary Fletchers song writing talent is respected by many.

In the past year or two, Gary has started to perform solo having stepped forward to the lead microphone with the Blues band. Gary usually plays left handed on an upside down right handed guitar!.. adding an interesting twist to his finger picking, whilst creating quite a unique sound.

Gary's first solo album Human Spirit, long awaited by many fans, has just been released after 25 years and if you like understated, quality R & B, its been worth the wait.

Gary popped into the studio early Monday morning to chat about his career, his music, his new CD and perform live in the studio with his guitar.

The lyrics were written by Mike & Jon Hurn, with Jon producing and editing the track.

IMAM AJMAL MASROOR VISITS

We were honoured by the presence of Imam Ajmal Masroor on Monday night/Tuesday morning.

First up Mike was expecting an Old man with a long beard and cloak to turn up.. What a surprise when a 30 something young man bounced into the studio.

The Imam was supposed to be on for an hour, but due to the amazing number of calls from all around the UK, he stayed on for 2 hours.

Hopefully the image that Imam Ajmal put across is that of an educated man who believes in peace, who is embarrassed by the thuggery of Islamic bullies and condemns all acts of terrorism.

Imam Ajmal is the visiting Imam to 4 Mosques in London and is a cultural relations consultant who supplies support to media and various government agencies on Muslim issues. He is a broadcaster and regular contributor on national radio and television programmes, he even presents his own programme on the Islam Channel & Channel S.

We hope that the Imam will return to then programme again soon.

WHO KILLED DIANA?

Following Diana's sudden death in Paris, August 31st 1977, many doubts have surrounded the official story that she was killed in a tragic accident. No event since the assination of President Kennedy has attracted more conspiracy theories than the death of Princess Diana.

Michael Atwell, award winning documentary maker, joined Mike Mendoza in the studio to discuss Michael's documentary shown recently on SKY one, and now available on DVD.

SUPER TELLY VET MARC LIVE IN THE STUDIO

Marc Abraham joined Mike live in the studio Sunday morning taking listeners calls and talking about pet care, his own projects etc.

Marc, as well as being the resident vet on Channel 4's New Paul O'Grady Show, he writes a weekly vet's column in Brighton's top lifestyle magazine Latest 7, giving pet-healthcare tips, advice for animal-lovers and even seasonal wildlife information.
Marc Abraham qualified from Edinburgh University in 1995. Since then he has helped all types of animals – large and small, domestic and exotic.
He is based in Brighton, and runs the multi-award winning Priory Emergency Treatment Service (PETS) which is an out-of-hours emergency service providing exclusive cover for 10 forward-thinking non-corporate local vet practices.
His hard work has been recognised with a string of awards, including scooping the public's vote to win a prestigious Vet Oscar in the 2007 Petplan Vet Awards.
All his life, Marc has been passionate about wildlife and nature, and frequently gives talks at local schools and care-homes about how to respect and preserve our environment.
Marc firmly believes that everyone has a duty to 'give something back' to their community. He flew out to Thailand just days after the devastating Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, helping to rescue and treat the poor injured and starving dogs and cats of Phuket.
He is currently preparing a documentary about a British donkey charity, Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land, that not only treats sick and injured donkeys, but helps to educate poorer communities and change attitudes in the Palestinian West Bank.
Marc's favourite hobbies include snowboarding and scuba-diving, and his ambition is to travel to Antarctica – and dive under the ice!
