Walk of Fame

You may have heard Mike mention once or twice, the Walk of Fame at The Brighton Marina. Now clearly Mike is only mentioning it because he wants to get inducted but as Mike isn't THAT famous yet we thought we'd bring you all some info on the Walk of fame.

The Brighton Walk of Fame was created as a cultural exhibition to pay tribute to the many famous individuals and organizations past and present from across the creative, sport and historic spectrum that have a close association with the city of Brighton & Hove. The free to view cultural attraction is the first exhibition of its kind in the UK and is located at Brighton Marina where it is exhibited in the form of a trail of 100 individually carved plaques each bearing the name of the inductees. The Brighton Walk of Fame has received thousands of visitors since its official launch in November 2002 when an array of the celebrity inductees attended the spectacular inaugural launch event.

Famous People

Brighton & Hove has always attracted the rich and famous, the talented and the eccentric - Prince Regent, Laurence Olivier, Rudyard Kipling, Lewis Carrol, Sir Paul McCartney to name a few (what about Mr Mendoza?) Today, as in the past, authors, composers, musicians, journalists, broadcasters, poets, performers, innovators, entrepreneurs and sports men and women love to live work and play in the city by the sea. The Walk of Fame celebrates all those famous people, past and present, in the true Hollywood Boulevard style of fashion with plaques set in the boardwalk at Brighton Marina.

Charity Auction

Prior to Christmas Mike had just one of his infamous 'Mike Mendoza Fridge Magnets' left, so he decided to auction it for Charity. The Chosen Charity was the Variety Club of Great Britain. The wonderful Godfrey of High Wycombe won the bid with an amazing offer of £1,000. Godfrey's cheque has already been handed over to the Variety Club and will soon be used to help in the great work of this Childrens Charity. The head of Variety, the Chief Barker appeared on Mike's show to acknowledge receipt of the cheque and to tell about the work of Variety.
